Influencer Danielle Mansuti Sues Plastic Surgeon For $2,200,000 Claiming 'Overly Large' Breasts Destroyed Her Career

The former social media star has since moved to Australia, where she now works a more traditional job

An influencer is now taking legal action, claiming that a breast augmentation surgery went terribly wrong and ended her once-thriving social media career. She has filed a lawsuit against the surgeon, seeking damages in the millions.

Danielle Mansutti, who is now 30, had built a strong following online. She was known for sharing content related to fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, and had attracted a loyal fan base through her social media platforms.

However, everything changed when she underwent breast implant surgery in December 2020. Mansutti says the implants were far too large for her frame, and she believes they ultimately caused her career to fall apart.

Mansutti says she experienced noticeable asymmetry between her breasts following the initial procedure. This led her to undergo multiple corrective surgeries. Eventually, she left the UK and moved to Australia to start a new chapter with a more stable job.

According to claims made in official court filings, she believes her original surgeon, Dr Domenico Mileto, advised her to go with breast implants that were too large for her build, which she says has left her body disfigured.

The former influencer has launched a lawsuit against Dr Mileto, who is based on London’s Harley Street. She is seeking £1.7 million (approximately $2.24 million), claiming she suffers ongoing pain and disability due to muscle damage in her chest.

Dr Mileto has since rejected the allegations. He insists that the procedure was performed correctly and denies that he gave Mansutti implants that were larger than she agreed to or asked for.

Danielle Mansutti Goes Under The Knife In December 2020

Danielle Mansutti had been living in Brighton before her surgery and had been active on YouTube since launching her channel back in January 2011.

During her time on the platform, she gained an impressive following of 1.6 million subscribers. She regularly posted makeup tips, travel vlogs, and lifestyle content on her channel, which was named after herself.

Roughly two months before she stopped creating content, she had a consultation with cosmetic surgeon Dr Mileto.

Court records show that their first meeting took place in November 2020. At the time, Mansutti shared that she wanted to enhance her 34B breasts to a fuller C or D cup.

"The claimant explained to Dr Mileto that she wanted a natural breast appearance, She was a size eight dress size and was sure she did not want the appearance of obviously augmented breasts," barrister Caroline Hallissey said in lodged documents.

"She was given two or three implants to try, in the range 350-400cc, which were inserted into a sports bra provided by the clinic... when she expressed a preference for the smaller implant, Dr Mileto advised her to go for the larger implant as he said the implant would 'drop' and 'shrink' in time."

The lawsuit explains that Mansutti trusted Dr Mileto’s judgment and saw him as an expert. So when he told her that 400cc implants would help achieve the natural look she was aiming for, she believed he must be right.

It also states that she was not given any specific warnings about the possible risks tied to the implant size that had been chosen for her.

"She was not advised that 400cc implants, in the context of her small frame, had potential adverse implications for the soft tissue and skin of the breasts or her pectoral muscles (or that) corrective surgery might be required if such large implants were used," it adds.

Mansutti Undergoes Further Surgeries

In January 2021, just one month after her initial procedure, Mansutti returned to the clinic for a check-up with a nurse.

It was during this appointment that she first raised concerns about her left breast, saying it seemed to be dropping and that the nipple had started pointing outwards.

These concerns led to the first of what would become multiple revision surgeries.

Although she felt some short-term pain relief after the revision, the issue with her left breast persisted. It continued to shift downward on her chest over time.

After consulting a third practitioner for another opinion, she was told that the 400cc implants were too large for her frame, which was a UK dress size eight.

In May 2021, Mansutti had a third surgery to remove the implants. This left her with visible muscle damage and stretch marks, which she describes as a deformity.

The report from her third surgeon noted that her left pectoral muscle had become detached from her sternum, according to the barrister handling her case.

"The appearance of her breasts is disfigured and pain and muscle damage have had a significant effect on her quality of life and ability to work."

After going through three operations, Mansutti decided to relocate to Australia to be close to her family and receive their support during recovery.

The lawsuit claims that after the original operation and two corrective surgeries, Mansutti was left with a very poor aesthetic outcome.

The emotional and physical toll of everything she went through has caused her to stop working as an influencer altogether. She says the muscle damage to her chest has completely ended her online career.

"The claimant was a suitable candidate for breast augmentation with an appropriately-sized implant in the region of 250cc," the barrister said in court documents.

"Implants of this size would have achieved a C/D cup size without the need for further intervention. The surgery would have been straightforward, achieved a good cosmetic result and would not have required correction."

In the legal complaint, Mansutti argues that Dr Mileto failed to recommend a properly sized and shaped implant. Instead, she claims he inserted ones that were too large and left her with significant scarring on her chest.

"The cosmetic appearance of her breasts is poor. She has sustained a significant adjustment reaction to the failed surgery," the lawsuit reads.

Mansutti is now seeking $2.2 million in damages. During the court hearing, it was suggested that financial experts might be called to evaluate her previous income streams.

This would help determine how much she has potentially lost since she stopped operating her online business and left the influencer world.

There is also a chance that both a psychiatric expert and a breast surgery specialist will be brought in to support the case, the court heard last week.

"Liability is in dispute in regard to everything: the consent, the examination, the size of the implants," the judge was told.

Dr Mileto Denies Putting ‘Overly Large’ Breast Implants Into His Client

Responding to the accusations, Dr Mileto’s lawyer, Matthew Barnes, said that his client allowed Mansutti to try several different implant sizes before making a decision about surgery.

"The claimant showed... a photograph of how she wanted to look, and whilst he did not keep a copy, it was consistent with 400cc implants," he said.

"He gave the claimant the opportunity to try several implant sizes and take photographs so that she could consider her options after the appointment."

"He advised the claimant that she could have a second appointment if she was uncertain about the size."

However, Barnes did admit that Dr Mileto did not specifically warn Mansutti that implants of that size might cause problems for someone with her smaller frame, particularly in terms of her pectoral muscles.

"It is averred that the extent of the dissection was appropriate for the 400cc implant," he added.

The legal case, Mansutti versus Dr Mileto, is expected to return to court for a full five-day trial. A future date will be confirmed.
