Fans pointed out that this isn't the first time Selena Gomez has raised the issue
In a video she later decided to delete, Selena Gomez became emotional and broke into tears as she shared her thoughts about the future of the country after President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders.
With Trump beginning his second term in office, many celebrities have been vocal about their concerns over the potential changes his administration might bring.
Among them, singer Selena Gomez stood out by sharing a heartfelt and tearful video expressing her deep worries about the impact of one of the president’s newest policies.

One of Trump’s significant policy goals was to reduce and remove illegal immigrants from the United States, which he reaffirmed after resuming office.
Shortly after his inauguration, the president signed a new executive order that could potentially result in the deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants. This move left Gomez fearful for the affected individuals.
In the video, visibly upset and holding her head in her hands, Gomez said: "I'm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children, I don't understand. I wish I could do something."
However, Gomez later chose to delete the video, adding this note: "Apparently its not okay to show empathy for people."
The brief but emotional video sparked a flurry of reactions online. See below:
Meanwhile, former US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Tom Homan, now acting as the Trump administration's 'border czar,' defended the president’s tough stance on illegal immigration.
Homan explained that military forces have been deployed to assist at the Mexican border, emphasizing Trump’s message to the global community that the US border is strictly controlled.
He stated: "If you're in the country illegally, you're on the table, because it's not OK to, you know, violate the laws of this country. You got to remember, every time you enter this country illegally, you violated a crime under Title Eight, the United States Code 1325, it's a crime."
Despite the backlash Gomez faced for her video, some fans quickly pointed out that this isn’t the first time she has spoken up about issues surrounding immigration.
Supporters of Gomez also criticized those who mocked or dismissed her concerns.
One person referenced her prior advocacy work, saying: "In 2019, Selena Gomez produced a Netflix documentary titled 'Living Undocumented' chronicling the lives of undocumented families in the United States."
Another noted: "She also speaks on her grandparents being Mexican immigrants. This isn't the first time she's spoken on this matter."
Selena Gomez deleted the video while sarcastically addressing the criticism she faced Selena Gomez/Instagram
A fan expressed their admiration for her compassion, writing: "Selena's tears speak volumes. Her empathy for the children and families affected is heartbreaking yet inspiring," while another shared: "It's really tough to see what's happening. your heart is in the right place, and just speaking out makes a difference."
Someone else added: "Thank you, Selena. Empathy really does matter. I'm realizing now that she can't win no matter what she does."
